I trained in London as an integrative existential counsellor in the 90s and then qualified as a psychosexual therapist in 2001.

As well as my post graduate diplomas, I am committed to ongoing professional development.  I am a registered member of BACP and a senior accredited counsellor with COSRT.

I worked as a clinician in sexual health in the NHS for over 2 decades. Although I have now left the NHS I worked for the last 12 years there as a Psychosexual Therapist. In my clinic I saw men, women, and couples with a wide range of varying sexual difficulties. Working in this setting really helped me blend my therapeutic model with the medical.

Since 2013 I have worked in private practice in London and now for quite a while in Sussex. I see people for both sex & relationship issues, but also for a wide range of issues in a general counselling role. In fact I see many clients for general counselling that want to discuss that sexual part of them. During my counsellor training I worked extensively with people experiencing bereavement. I have also worked with carers. I am interested in the human experience of trauma and how we are impacted by layers of emotional and psychological trauma.

My earlier NHS role in health promotion means I have a significant understanding and a wealth of experience working with sexual health and HIV related issues. I worked mainly in prevention. I have a special interest in in LGBTQ work. I have worked particularly with gay men for many years working with issues such as sexual compulsion, drug use, coming out, self-esteem, and relationships. I am always fascinated and stirred by the journeys queer people have from their childhood onward. I am Cis Male but lately I have embraced and enjoyed working with Non-Binary, Gender-fluid, and the Trans community.

I have experience in teaching & training.

I work both short term and longer term but I think its important to review as we go along. In my experience people coming into therapy prefer an open ended model where they can work out when they feel ok to end.
